Summary

The Women's Murder Club is back with a fiendish new case which the four friends will need to call upon all their ingenuity to solve

San Francisco Police Department Sergeant Lindsay Boxer's FBI agent husband, Joe Molinari, is investigating a group determined to repeal a law banning the sale of automatic weapons。 The group is linked to a Mexican cartel who smuggle guns across the border, along with copious amounts of drugs。

Meanwhile, Lindsay is investigating the suspicious death of a corrupt former cop who was serving life in prison。 When two other people connected to the former cop turn up dead, Lindsay believes someone is trying to silence them。

As Lindsay and Joe both delve into areas where they're not wanted, they become targets of some very dangerous people。

This was a good story。 I felt that it focused a lot on a storyline I wasn't overly fond of, but it was still very quick and easy to read。We got 90% Lindsay in this story6% Cindy3% Claire1% YukiIt did feel a bit off having so little of the other characters。I want justice for Claire who never gets a primary storyline。I had a good time This was a good story。 I felt that it focused a lot on a storyline I wasn't overly fond of, but it was still very quick and easy to read。We got 90% Lindsay in this story6% Cindy3% Claire1% YukiIt did feel a bit off having so little of the other characters。I want justice for Claire who never gets a primary storyline。I had a good time 。。。more

Always entertaining。

Brill。I just love this series and this book did not disappoint。 My heart went out to Joe and Lindsay at times and poor Claire and what she had to do。 I was expecting what happened to Cindy and there was some twists I did not see co,img and I certainly did not guess the killer correctly。 I just adored little Julie, every time I read about her she just puts a smile on my face。

As always, a fast paced good read。 Joe and Lindsay have good chemistry。

Joe and Lindsey are investigating a group who are trying to stop a law to ban assault guns。 It gets very dangerous when the group targets their family。 Fast paced。

It kept me up far too late!Another successful hit from the co-authors of The Women’s Murder Club。 Drugs, the hot topic of 2nd amendment rights, murders - the whole shebang falling squarely on the shoulders of the Women’s Murder Club。 When I’m up finishing a novel at 1:35 AM and face getting up early for work, it’s obviously a good read!

California already had the strictest gun laws in the country, but now they have been tightened further。 There are broadened bans on more semi-automatic weapons, along with stricter registration and sales requirements。 Suppressors or clips holding more than 10 rounds are now illegal。 “Ghost guns” have been banned。 And ALL firearms are required to have GPS so they can be tracked by law enforcement。 If you possess any of these weapons, you could be arrested and jailed。 A national resistance movemen California already had the strictest gun laws in the country, but now they have been tightened further。 There are broadened bans on more semi-automatic weapons, along with stricter registration and sales requirements。 Suppressors or clips holding more than 10 rounds are now illegal。 “Ghost guns” have been banned。 And ALL firearms are required to have GPS so they can be tracked by law enforcement。 If you possess any of these weapons, you could be arrested and jailed。 A national resistance movement is mobilizing。In San Francisco, crowds of protestors chanting “We will not comply” steadily grow, and major cities around the nation are passing similar ordinances。 The San Francisco mayor has issued a memo to be spread throughout the media: A buy-back operation has just begun in 18 publicized localities, primarily in parking lots around the city where gun shows are often held。 These offers are in the form of grocery and big-box store gift cards in exchange for weapons。Chief of Police Charlie Clapper calls an emergency meeting of all local SF law enforcement agents。 He announces that he’s looking for undercover officers to attend popular gun shows and be on the lookout for vendors who might be trying to diminish their supply of illegal weapons。 Lindsay Boxer’s husband, Joe Molinari, is working as a high-level consultant in risk assessment, port security and advanced cyber threats。 He volunteers to team up with a former ATF agent to pose as potential buyers of illegal firearms that are being sold at these gun shows。They are looking for one man, Alejandro Vega, a specialist in gun trafficking who also deals fentanyl on the side。 Vega has just served five years in a Mexico prison and crossed the US border illegally。 He is suspected of trying to smuggle arms in from Mexico, rumored to be through tunnels dug beneath the border。 The problem is that officials are not certain of the exact location of the tunnels or where they open in the vast shipyard sections of San Francisco。 Vega knows that if he is returned to Mexico, he will be executed by the powerful cartels。 But will he cooperate? When former law enforcement officers turn up dead as apparent suicides with fentanyl overdoses and self-inflicted gunshot wounds, Lindsay feels that the situations don’t add up, and she wants to dig deeper。 Then she is shown a photo of a dead man with his lips grotesquely stapled shut。 A scrawled note that says “You talk, you die” lies next to him。 She recognizes him as a former cop。 He will not be the last。Lindsay, who was stripped of her detective status in an earlier book, is joined once again by her Women’s Murder Club partners: Cindy Thomas, the senior crime reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, who is currently on sabbatical, writing a novel based on the life of a notorious serial killer; Claire Washburn, San Francisco’s chief medical examiner; and Jill Bernhardt, a deputy district attorney。22 SECONDS, which fittingly enough is #22 in the series, served as my introduction to the Women’s Murder Club。 I’ve read and enjoyed James Patterson over the years, most recently his collaboration with Bill Clinton, THE PRESIDENT’S DAUGHTER IS MISSING, which is a non-stop, page-turning adventure。 It’s the fortunate storyteller who teams up with the world’s most popular thriller writer, and Maxine Paetro drew that lucky card here, starting with the fourth installment。 I read the first two books to acquaint myself with these amazing characters。 Luckily, I have 19 more to experience。Reviewed by Roz Shea 。。。more

James Patterson books usually are exciting and suspenseful but this one I was disappointed in, the women's murder club is my favorite and I felt the other 3 members hardly got a mention。 As a book it was good but felt more like a stand alone not the murder club I do enjoy。 Joe Molinari and the FBI agent he was working with were taken prisoner in Mexico by men with automatic weapons。 They were bundled into an armoured vehicle, hand cuffed and questioned。 The next time they are mentioned they are James Patterson books usually are exciting and suspenseful but this one I was disappointed in, the women's murder club is my favorite and I felt the other 3 members hardly got a mention。 As a book it was good but felt more like a stand alone not the murder club I do enjoy。 Joe Molinari and the FBI agent he was working with were taken prisoner in Mexico by men with automatic weapons。 They were bundled into an armoured vehicle, hand cuffed and questioned。 The next time they are mentioned they are back home! It does not state whether it was cartel men who took them, or whether they were released or somehow escaped and if so why they were released。 。。。more

I usually complain about Patterson being formulaic and barely a step up from brain candy, but there is something about 22 Seconds that caught my attention early。 More than the usual single file march, multiple things are going on from the start, which I assumed would eventually meld together。 But not this time。Usually, the women’s murder club ties the four women together in one case。 Maybe that did happen, but only by a mere fringe。 Other than to bring Claire into the book, there was no point to I usually complain about Patterson being formulaic and barely a step up from brain candy, but there is something about 22 Seconds that caught my attention early。 More than the usual single file march, multiple things are going on from the start, which I assumed would eventually meld together。 But not this time。Usually, the women’s murder club ties the four women together in one case。 Maybe that did happen, but only by a mere fringe。 Other than to bring Claire into the book, there was no point to the earlier autopsy she was part of。 Cindy is constantly being told “off the record” which is usually the point of having her。 Then there is the slight mention of Yuki in the courtroom。 To be honest, this is a Lindsay and Joe book。 And unless I missed it, or it was mentioned in a previous book, why were people blaming Lindsay alone for the crackdown on high-power weapons? If there was a preamble for either the Claire or blame Lindsay situations, I missed it。 。。。more

Actually one of the better Patterson books of late。 This is a series I've been with since the beginning and will stick with just because of the development of the characters。With this one, it's more important that you've read book 21 rather than the entire series。 He always fills in enough gaps that it can be a stand alone but this continues from last book so there will be spoilers if you didn't read the 21st。 Or if you don't care, then you don't lose much。The WMC are at it again, except Lindsay Actually one of the better Patterson books of late。 This is a series I've been with since the beginning and will stick with just because of the development of the characters。With this one, it's more important that you've read book 21 rather than the entire series。 He always fills in enough gaps that it can be a stand alone but this continues from last book so there will be spoilers if you didn't read the 21st。 Or if you don't care, then you don't lose much。The WMC are at it again, except Lindsay is in their cross hairs。 War over the new gun laws, the opposing sides something we've seen in current times。This one primarily is Lindsay and Cindy。 One appearance by Yuki and a handful of Claire。。。 I didn't like that。 It's a group。 Thats the appeal。But with twists, lots of drama and some misdirection we get a quick read with short chapters。 This was done in four hours。 355 pages。Worthwhile for those who follow the WMC, for those who haven't - I don't know that I'd get sucked in。 Patterson isn't what he used to be。 。。。more

I can’t not read a Women’s Murder Club book。 But this was one of my least favorites。 Slow start, not a lot going on with the club girls, and kind of inconclusive ending。

Typical Boxer story of the bad guys - now it is cops。 I think there were too many different stories and it is now bordering on fantasy。It is entertaining though,

Another exciting, action packed Women’s Murder Club books。 Very hard to put down as usual。 This included Joe a lot more。 In fact, he was working with the FBI, so he and Lindsay did this case together, along with many others。

The book was very complex and had lots of details, but the story line was hard to follow, and not as enjoyable as most of Pattersons books。。The ending also seemed abrupt, and not pieced together, but just given。

James patterson never disappoints。。I love how fast paced his books are

Debbie Levine

As much as I like the Women’s Murder Club Mysteries, this one did not do it for me。 Lindsay Boxer and her husband Joe Molinari are working on inter-related cases this time and there was less focus on the relationship between Lindsay and her partners in crime, Claire the Medical Examiner, Yuki the District Attorney and Cindy Thomas, the crime reporter。 Perhaps, that was what was missing from the book。 I’m not sure。
